Servicing Query

I have a Nov '11 (61) 40d which has covered just 6.5k miles.  A week after purchase the OBC advised me a service was due, it has a service pack so it's no drama really but from a convenience perspective I was a little disgruntled this hadn't been picked up prior to delivery.  Anyway, so in it goes to the local dealer mid-Oct only to be returned to me stating the OBC was wrong, the car wasn't due a service and as such their technician reprogramed the vehicle and it now showed that nothing was due until Jan/Feb 2014.

This seemed a little strange at the time, because I would of thought the car would be on 2 years or xyz mileage intervals.  Anyway given the low mileage I wasn't too concerned either way and instead of challenging them - figured I'd let them do their job.  But now someone in a call centre from the dealers group has contacted me to arrange the 2 year service  ::)  Thoughts from the wider community here?

My X6 had a service at 2 years to replace the brake fluid, update various firmware and a full safety check.

At three years another warning came up for the MOT.  After the MOT was done the service date is now one year as that will be when the next MOT (and 2 year service) will be due.

So the service flag was not incorrect.  It goes on time or mileage but doesn't say what type of service is due.

So your saying it's due a 2 year inspection?  I'm aware that the OBC will issue a reminder for the MOT inspection after 3 years then then annually there after - whilst this may be a visit to the dealer it isn't a service as such.

I've again spoken to the dealers servicing department again, they seem to think it isn't due a service.  We appear to be going around in circles :'(

The car is due a service every two years or sooner if higher mileage.
In fact my 40d came up on the screen it was due a service at 22 months
with just 7,500 miles on the clock. It is almost thee years old now and I
have not seen an MOT warning, but I have MOT'd it one month early.

27/28 months is a long time between oil changes.

Mine was 22-23 months old when it flagged one was due at about 6k miles.  Madness that the dealer don't seem to know the answer?  Bad times...

Sounds like the Dealer are trying to avoid doing some work to me.

Even our Mini has just had a 2-year service with just 10k on the clock.  It now has a reminder for one year away.  My X6 says 14,000 miles or Sept 14 for the next service work - which will be the MOT.

Well you'd almost think that, but just because the car has a service pack I'd imagine the dealers still claim labour and parts costs from BMW UK.  Plus I'm fairly well known to the dealer owing to they have been my preferred service centre for years if nothing else.
