Now that the F15 has been unveiled, do you think the price of the E53 will drop anytime soon?

Probably not by much as the E70 will be taking the brunt being the previous model.  Even with the E70 coming out in 2007 that didn't have a massive effect on prices.

My 55 plate 106k 3.0d sport went for 7K today, so they have dropped already, I don't think its anything to do with the new model being due out, as  they are in a way different price bracket.

E53 asking prices have seemingly firmed & gone up a bit in recent months...especially pre-facelift. Relatively worse winters & talk of cold winter coming. Anti 4x4 brigade have backed off a bit too. Seasonally winter is best for SUV/SAV/4x4 vehicles. Used market for clean original historied cars seems a little firmer as less stock around and prices can be justified by folk wanting a relatively cheap purchase winter use 4x4. As  with most makes/models of an age the better & maintained cars will perhaps be more desireable.

If 1-3 year old E70's chopped in on mass this may cause a slight E70 drop for a while but due to time of year I doubt it will impact as much as some new generations of other models unless used E70 supply outpaces used demand.  As more 2008 onwards models come on market some 2007 (non ED) E70's might need to be spot on &/or priced well to sell against the cheaper tax disc ED models.  I would also expect to see a gap between 2013 E70 against 2013 F15 of equivalent/similar spec/mileage list when new. A significant change in early E70 money may mean the freshest E53's have to adjust price slightly but then again re-kindled interest in anything X5 could work for the E53 rather than against it residually speaking.

A lot may depend on demand for F15 and how it is received.

Those who want a BMW 4WD can of course now choose it in saloon or smaller vehicles than X5. A different market place to when the E53 hit these shores

Some of the above may turn out to be relevant.......Then again I could be talking absolute nonsense ::)
