Purchased an X6.

Thought it would only be right to introduced myself. I'm a big BMW fan but haven't had one for a few years. I've always been bit of a petrolhead with cars & motorbikes etc but thought its time to be sensible and brought a family car.
I purchased my X6 2008, 3.0D last week, and love it. The only thing I dislike is the heavy steering, (maybe this is just mine). BUT it pulls like a train, and sticks to the road like glue. Drives faultless.
I live near Heathrow, and will try to attend as many meets/shows as possible as I would love to see the various mods that the forum members have done.
I have a few mods in mind, and hope to implement then in the next month

Hi and welcome
There are several modified X6 and the one i remember is westside's car, he had green calipers which looked very good and the mods done made the car look very tough.

The pic looks the correct side up to me, so guess it may be your computer.
West side, just saw your car, looks gorgeous.
I only want a few simple mods being, remap, 22" rims, rear tinted windows, maybe small spoiler, and I must change the horrible yellow angel eyes.

Hello and Welcome.
Surprised the steering feels heavy as it uses a variable assist system with more 'assist' at lower speeds.
For rear spoilers look at the BMW 'Performance' parts which include a lip spoiler and a couple of small fences that run up the side of the rear screen. They don't do much, but they are available.
I used MTEC filament lamps to replace the angel eyes as there are no LED kits that give the same light output to match the newer OEM type. You can replace the entire headlight unit, but the cost is

Sorry about the upside down pic, not sure why this is, as it's ok on my screen.
My car is booked ino BMW on Monday for the security update, as it's not been done yet.
It also has a recall outstanding for a thread on the power steering, so when it's there i will get them to check if the heavy steering is normal, or a fault. I think it's normal, but in sure the dealer will let me know.
The performance rear lip spoiler looks great, is there a trusted source that people on this forum is as most of them from eBay are approx £90 but are not from the UK. I didn't want to get stung by using a doggy company.
Also the rear tail fins not not something I've seen before as would need to see them on the flesh to see of that was the way I wanted to go. Hopefully I will see a few cars at the meets/shows which will give me a chance to see them.

snipez999 had them on his X6, and Westside might also have, check the Gallery section.
The BMW versions just stick on. Some ebay ones are OK but some aren't.
I'm surprised that the recalls haven't been done - doesn't say a lot about the previous keeper - as the power steering one has been around for a while.
Certainly the steering on mine is OK, but being a 2011 40d it may have a different system but the Realoem diagram shows it to be the same one unless you have Active Steering as a fitted option (not avail on the 40d).

Are there any forum members that sell mods etc, as I rather buy from trusted forumm members, rather than a doggy Ebay seller.
Thanks.

Thanks.
I've just got to tweet it slightly, remaps, rims, tints etc and it will be complete. Nothing silly, just sensible mods.

Nice one. Always good to see another X6er, and even more satisfying when you see how much it winds 535dboy up.
