Ok just to set the scene, X5 parked on car park, it's dark and it have pulled the keys out and switched the lights off but my wife and daughter are sat in the car . I'm off to the shop round the corner. The car park has around 30 spaces and there is only one more car parked.
On my return my Mrs is confronting a guy that had reversed into our car.
He has hit the front lower drivers door ( leaving just a scuff) but the main impact was just on the side indicator/ 4.4 badge. Resulting in a broken lens and a crease/ scuff on the bottom of the wheel arch.
Before I could say anything to him I looked around thinking that if you had blindfolded a driver there would be less chance of hitting a car.
His opening line was ( pointing at the side indicator)
" how much is one of those, I'll go to the cash machine and get some cash out"
At this point my wife has the pen and pad out and is screwing his details out of him and I'm still walking round thinking how the f....
Details swapped and reg numbers noted I nearly lost the plot when ( as I was getting into the car) he said
If that was me mate I would stick a lens on and give it a polish.
The cost to his insurance company was £425.78 for the damage, but interestingly they emailed my wife with the options for a replacement vehicle.
So £ 425 for the damage
Cost of hire car ( equivalent Merc (shit) driven from Crawley to Todmorden ( and back) .
And that my friends is where our insurance dish goes.
