navcoder interface help - kills system on disconnect

hi all.
finally got around it installing my navcoder softwate and interface today. I went for a usb interface from ebay (3 wires one and and the mini usb other end)

got it setup and running all ok. could see ibus traffic etc.. flowing through. however when I finished I shut down the laptop. disconnected the usb lead from the interfact and tucked the interface ontop of the nav.

when I went to go in the car and go out the whole screen/radio etc.. was dead.

it wasn't until I plugged the interface back into the pc it started working again. I tried this a few times and it seems everytime the interface is disconnected the screen/radio etc.. will stop working. if its its turned on and disconnected the radio remains on with no way to turn off. the only way I could overcome this was disconnecting the yellow (power) wire from where I spliced into and the bmw system acted normal again..

anyone experienced this or know why

Your interface is probably dragging the IBus signal down and therefore stopping all comms.
The Signal is a 9.6k serial comms on an inverse 12v pulse....
(ie when no signals on the IBus you will have approx 12v on the bus.  when comms in progress the units will drag the voltage down to indicate a "1")

You may have to ensure the PC side of the interface remains powered some how to stop it doing it, or insert a disconnect device in the IBUS line (switch / relay??)
