noise still running behind climate control unit once car once turned off

Hi all
just came back from a 2h drive and switched everything off key out of ignition etc. however I can still hear a humming sound coming from around the air control unit (ive recorded a vid clip but not sure if I can upload on this site?)
but its been 30 mins now since ive finished my drive and its still humming away.
sounds like a fan maybe from behind the climate control unit. 

ive also sat in the car locked it  (sat v still as to not set alarm off)  and its still running..  also oddly I could hear the nav unit running  so that's still pwered on  (is that normal?)

Does the led illuminating the 'P' on the gearshift ever go out?  It should do after 16 mins.

If the fans are running then you might have a failed Final Stage Resistor (aka Hedgehog).  The fans will run until the battery dies.

Do a search on the forum and there are instructions on how to change it.  It's fiddly and down the back of the console around the left of the pedal area.

You can deactivate the interior alarm by pressing the lock button twice with a few second pause between each press.  Saves you having to sit still.

I will have to check the "P" on the gear stick. its not the fans themselves blowing  its sounds like its coming from behind the climate control panel

ive also got in the car locked it  sat v still for 10 mins and its still running... but oddly I can also hear the nav drive running in the boot.  when I gone to have a look the power led (red) is just flashing  not sure if the nav drive should be running or not without the key in

Nav drive will run if the car is awake.  Mine used to.

As X5Sport says nav will run when the X is awake , so do a lot of things , i myself back in may sat locked in my X for 16 min to hear if that wee fan that you can hear  would go off , and it did along with the orange light beside the gear stick , Xasleep...
