Been a lurker for a good while now, some really knowledgeable people on here. This is a great forum, picked up some great ideas from it.

Anyway picked up a Black E53 3.0i 03 plate, I love it such a dream to drive - feel like a boss lol

Image

A few things I would like to ask, I have searched on here and other places but cant seem to find definitive answers. Any help would be greatly received.

After about a week of driving I have got the message "self level susp inact" appear. From looking online it is an issue with suspension, the ride feels the same so bit unsure as to why this has shown up. What can I do ?

Every morning I hear air coming out the rear tyre for some reason, tyre is not flat or has a punchture. Has anyone had this before, any ideas as to what it could be ?

I want to upgrade interior lights to white LED's, I want it all changed. Can someone confirm the exact number of bulbs, as when I go on Ebay I am seeing LED interior packs but with a different set of numbers ?

Sorry to go on, I want to change the side repeaters to smoked LEDs like this - Image

I can only find these from the USA, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-X5-E53-LED-SMOKED-SIDE-REPEATERS-MARKERS-LIGHT-DARK-/300476708305?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3ABMW%7CModel%3AX5%7CPlat_Gen%3AE53&hash=item45f5ceb5d1

Does anyone know a source in the UK to get them and is there a guide/video ti fit them. I would imagine they just pop out and replace, but dont wanna start messing up the car

I am based in North London, so if anyone knows of any good fitters for ICE, tints, wheels etc please let me know.

Sounds like one of your air suspension bags is leaking causing the warning on the dash and the sound of escaping air from the rear of the vehicle.  I'd expect it needs a new bag - probably worth changing both at the rear as a minimum...

But there are experts on here who will give you great advice on this issue - I was fortunate not to suffer it on my E53.

Good luck - great motor!

if your handy with the spanners, then not a massive job, air bags are also pretty cheap

Hi and welcome.

The side repeaters are fairly simple as the new ones direct replacement, and iirc they have a push tab at the front then the repeater comes out, I used a thin plastic scrapper/ spreader which didn't mark the body work. I went for these not led though

I have a mate called scott in Stevenage (30 miles outside of London) who does good tinted windows, has done all my cars inc the X5 and brother in laws cars all at a reasonable cost. I can pm his no

Again if after audio other may be more local but have a couple of guys I have used let me know if you want the numbers

Welcome aboard.

Definitely sounds like a leaking rear air bag. Not very difficult to replace. You can go for an OE spring conversion to future proof.

Sad news I had to return the car back to the dealer, there were far too many issues with it. I had already returned it back once. Only had it for 4 days.

The "check cooliant temp" warning kept appearing, this was the reason I returned it 1st as it would overheard within about 10 mins of driving it. He said he had fixed and fit a new part and let it "bleed". I doubt he did as the same issue came again

The PDC sensor was busted, as soon as you put into R it starts beeping.

Driver side mirror would not fold up.

Leaking driver side air suspension bag.

I found all this out within 4 days of having it, they clearly didnt even check it over before advertising it let alone selling it to me. Granted when I took it for a drive I should have looked into these things, at least I now know what to look for when I get a new one.

Oh bolox, that's a shame!  :'(

Still the Dealer did the right thing by taking it back and you didn't lose anything except a bit of pleasure.

There are still plenty of good ones out there and a read of the Buyers Guide may also give you more tips about looking for faults.  BMW Dealers may offer more security perhaps (at a price) but even they seem to be poor at picking all the issues up.

The right car will come along ....  :)

Ok so finally got another x5, a better 1 infact. Less miles, no probs, OEM Sat Nav.

No heated seats or motorised wing mirrors though, but not a biggie.

Anyway does anyone know what the hell this is ??

Sorry guys dont know why its not showing, anyway I have re upped it.

I think it has something to do with the Sat Nav, as when I push or turn it it shows a message saying to contact a BMW dealer as my subscription has expired.
