Hi

Managed to get one of these for the x from a breaker. Went to fit it last night though and I couldnt work out how it fitted....my x5 is a 2004 facelift. Did they have a different design load cover for facelift and pre facelift? Has anyone got a picture of how it actually fits/sits in the back shelf area?

Any help appreciated!

Yes, different in pre-facelift and then facelift. The facelift one is like a roller blind on a spring, the pre-facelift is like a multiple folds type (if that makes sense)?

yes definatly different, pre face lift ones are shit, facelift ones are good

As Sanj says the latter one is in a cassette type that you pull out. The per facelift is more like a Venetian blind when folded and has ribs in it.

Depending on cost of the one you bought it may be easier to sell that one on and get the facelift version.

Alternatively if you have the pre facelift one you could fit the earlier one to a later car but you would need to change the boot side panels which is more cost.

My X5 appears to be a pre-facelift (2003?) and has the track for the earlier cover but I have the later roller blind type fitted.

When I bought the car it was advertised as having a load cover but did not have one fitted. I got the dealer to supply one in the deal and when I collected the car it was laid loose in the back and I didn't think anything more about it until I tried to put it into place the next day.

I managed to get it to fit after a fashion by removing the "blocks" from the end of the tracks nearest the rear seat backrest and dropping the ends of the blind in the spaces left. They are about the right size and the only problem encountered is that the blind needs to be removed if you want to fully lift the boot floor and hold it open with the in-built hook on the boot door opening.
