Bulb Advice

I have now had my E70 for 40 months, cannot believe how time has flown. Shortly after getting the car I upgraded the bulbs for the 'side lights and day time running lights' for the 'white effect' that we all prefer. However, one of mine has failed (did not show on the dash strangely enough) and so I though I would get some advice and recommendations on good bulbs since I am sure they have improved in the last three years?
