Part numbers inquiry

Post by Mr Brightside » Fri Oct 04, 2013 11:47 am

Hi, I am a newbie to the forum and only recently joined the X5 world (2005 E53 3.0i auto). Fingers crossed! I am looking to change brake pads, discs and some suspension parts (wish bone and radfuehrung -- which I have no clue about!). I got a quotation from a BMW dealer shop but can see similar parts advertised for less on ECP etc. Problem is, the part numbers do not correspond. The dealer part numbers are the same I get through realoem but I can't find the exact part numbers on online parts stores. Is this a major issue? Is there a place I can check that I am buying the right parts? Thanks much in advance.

With the likes of ECP you just put your reg in and it will list parts accordingly so you should find the parts will be correct for your application.

Welcome aboard by the way.

Thanks Raj,

Sadly I don't live in the UK and thus my reg would be less-than-useful but I have my VIN number. If I have a part number from a dealership is that the only part that can work or can I get an equivalent part cheaper from another OEM manufacturer/online parts shop?

Thanks again

Where are you if not UK?

With eurocarparts you can put the vehicle details in instead to get the right product parts. Otherwise call them as they will provide you with their part numbers and correct parts.

Thanks Raj. I will do that. I am in Mombasa, Kenya, halfway round the world.
