Diabollically Annoying Squeak

I have got a squeak from inside the car that is driving me nuts. It only happens when I am turning left, and go over a bump, or a hole. It is coming from the passenger side rear, and may be coming from one of the trim panels, just over the passengers left shoulder.

I had to drive a technician around for 30 mins whilst he tried to figure out what was causing it.

The car goes in on Wednesday, and they may need it it for 2 days!

Anyone got any ideas as to what it may be?

Thanks

Mark

Sorry, no idea.  Mine goes in to the garage in 3 weeks (that's how long the wait for a courtesy car is) for the same reason.  Would be very grateful if you could post your findings in due course.

I had assumed it was a poor fitting door card (mine only creaks in the driver's door)

Are you sure it's not a parrot on your passengers left shoulder :pirate2: Sorry I just had to say it

Have you put bigger alloys on it by any chance? Mine did something similar once when I put some wheels on but stopped when I changed them to a different set.

Does sound like a doorcard tbh.

Apparently, it was the catch that holds the seat back in place. They "adjusted" it, and it seems to be ok now, will take it on a long drive to check it out.

I get a squeak from my door, moving in the frame against the door seal.

It's mildly irritating, I just turn up the radio.

The top technician at the local BMW garage did something to the door seals and it fixed the problem.  Apparently modern car washes 'strip' the seals of something or other the seals need re-feeding from time to time.  I was sceptical seeing as the car has been washed only a dozen times or so (seems a low number to be affecting the seals) but the creaking has gone.

You can use the same lubricant that is used to ensure underwater camera housing seals don't dry out and fail whilst 50ft underwater!  :o

I think it's a kind of silicone grease and it keeps the rubbers supple.

That'll be the stuff.  Over to you 535dboy, you must be able to get a decent gag out of : silicone, rubber, grease and supple.

Gummi Pflege Stift. It is a rubber care stick, made in Germany, and you thought my auto correct wasn't working on my I pad! common problem with the door seals causing a squeaking noise on the E60 too. Available from Amazon I think.
