Another hello to the forum

Post by zchap68 » Sun Sep 22, 2013 10:05 am

Hello everyone,

I have taken the time to now register and post to this forum as I found it provided a wealth of useful information prior to purchasing my X5. I have now owned it for just over 1 month and we are very pleased with her!

We previously had an Audi A4 3.0 TDI, but as it was a saloon, the missus found it restrictive for placing all the baby paraphernalia following our new arrival earlier in the year...... time to get a new car  :D

The missus immediately jumped to the range rover evoque, but after test driving it, I was disappointed with the power, not to mention the small boot. The current Range Rover Sport looks outdated compared to the upcoming model ... would have to wait a few more years for a second hand model of the new range. We also test drove the Audi Q5, nice engine and acceleration but a bit smaller than expected. Need an HGV licence to drive the tank-like Q7, so that was out of the question. So then onto the X5, we had found our perfect compromise - ideal in size, looks mean on the roads, has 7 seat option and litres of boot space when the seats are down. I was impressed by the handling and power and the missus liked it to, so we opted to look for the appropriate vehicle. We were particularly after white, xdrive40d (we had test drove the xdrive30d at BMW but wanted a bit more power as our Audi was chipped to around 300bhp), 7 seat option and panoramic roof. Months later we finally found her...

Had a good spec on a late 2011:
- Xdrive40d M-Sport
- 7 seats
- Panoramic Roof and privacy glass
- White with 20" black factory alloys
- BMW Business Audio with satnav and telematics (has HDD for music etc)
- Electronic tailgate, heated seats with electric adjustment, dual climate
- Oyster leather interior with wood trim
- Still has just under 1 year warranty and service pack till 2016

Some pictures:

It's quite a head turner when all cleaned up and driving around (particularly when nice weather and sunny), although not looking forward to keeping her clean in the winter. I really like the lighting at night with the white LED lighting around the vehicle and the LED angel eyes - lights up like a xmas tree when you unarm the vehicle, particularly as it is a white car. The electronic tailgate is such as poser thing in a carpark lol.

Once the warranty runs out will be looking at bwchiptune to free a few more ponies as well as in-car entertainment and audio speaker upgrades  8)

Great introduction and great choice of motor.

I'm green with envy, as i wanted a white 40d, but couldn't quite afford one at the time... :(

Enjoy.. :)

We too are Audi Q7 converts.  The ride is simply better and build quality & finish better than a Q7.  Plus the 40d is way more powerful than a 3.0 S Line.

Just a shame you come from Kent really (Essex boy myself) ROFLMAO

Enjoy.  Ours is Cheshire White too :-)
