LPG conversion in Scotland (or northern England)

Post by jackbauer » Thu Sep 19, 2013 8:27 pm

Can anyone recommend an LPG installer in Scotland or northern England?

The reason I bought the V8 beast was to convert her to LPG but there seems to be very few reviews or recommendations online regarding conversions in Scotland.

Having read Raj's posts with his beast I would be willing to drive down south to have the work carried out there, but if anything were to go awry then its an awful long trek back to the installer (nearly a 5 hour drive).

I have been on to the Prins website (i have more or less settled on this system) there are only 3 installers in Scotland. 2 of which are in Linlithgow and Stirling but have no websites??? and one in Arbroath, which does actually look decent but it is a 3 hour drive from me!

There are other installers in Glasgow area but none do Prins installation as far as I can tell ( I may be wrong) the next best system appears to be BRC.

Any ideas or suggestions are most welcome...

if its a 5 hr drive to raj's installer and still a 3 hr drive to a non recommended one i would go the 5 hr drive, perhaps they have a courtesy car so you could leave it all week for them?
i think these conversions need doing by someone who has 100% done one on that car before so they no what they are doing

Maxwell conversions in Stirling is ok - one man band, he carried out my lpg service a few months ago.

I took my V8 X5 to Leeds for my conversion due to cost saving though - I ran mine for 17 months or so following conversion covering 15,000 miles in this time. Never missed a beat - excellent job and at a great price with all done in a day! My brother also got his Merc C280 done & my dads Jag xtype 2.1 V6 later on - all good also. Therefore I can recommend them as quality installers.

I done a lot of investigation before heading to Leeds - Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling installers were much dearer than Leeds by upto 300%. One X5 owner recommended an Edinburgh company - when quized he did mention issues with management light, misfires and fault level sensor. I had no such issues with mine.

I note that Birch 4x4 in Liverpool also do LPG conversions - They recently carried out my gearbox rebuild and come recommended also.

All the best
