Does anyone know whether BMW ever did a genuine dog guard for the E53and I don't mean the cargo holder that came std with the x5's a proper metal grid one where small dogs cant get through,

Yes they do one. I have one for sale - another member did want it but haven't heard anything from him in a few weeks.
