Is anyone is having a problem with their folding mirrors slipping, grinding when folding?

I was unfortunate the other day and had a mirror hit whilst parked!

I started searching the usual auction sites for a used mirror and came across a motor housing repair kit!

Well I received the kit today and went to work on the repair;

1. Removed door card.
2. Removed Mirror.
3. Stripped mirror cover, 3 torx bolts from inside mirror/pivot, 3 torx bolts from lower edge of mirror &      removed motor housing.
4. Marked position of motor in housing etc & removed a further 4 torx bolts from housing. Motor & gearing now accessible.
5. Removed 2 wires from motor, slide motor out and insert into new housing whilst feeding wires into place, replace 2 gears and refit after applying grease to moving parts.
6. My motor housing had broken locating tabs, ensure these are removed before fitting unit back into mirror.
7. Re build mirror ensuring correct location of micro switch.
8. Refit to car & test!

Mirror repaired for a total of £50
