Fail MOT again today on hand brake efficiency even after adjusting it at the weekend, so New Rear disc, pads and shoes need, Had a quote for £320 fitted! So decided to order the parts from Eurocarparts and do it myself.

They sell a few different brands, can anybody recommend which rear brake discs, pads & shoes to go for?

Thanks in advance

Pagid are probably the best that ECP sell. The only negative I've seen re pagid are occasional squealing issues.

Do try carparts4less too as they appear to be from the same place but far better prices (matching or surpassing ECP even with one of their 25-30% off codes included)

Thanks for the info

Another question, if the low pad wear light hasn't come on yet, i'm guessing I won't have to fit a new wear sensor?

Is there much difference in quality between the Pagid, Eicher and Textar?

John,

Do the discs and pads need replacing?

If they still have life in them then personally think you just need new shoes. Tbh after adjusting mine even with new shoes they still failed it and ended up getting the dealer to adjust them and then it was fine.

I've got pagid all round but will be replacing all my brakes next Saturday with something a little bigger.

Pagid & Textar are both used OEM.  If the sensor hasn't tripped and it comes out OK then you don't need to change, but given the effort in you having ut all in bits, you might as well replace that too - well I would.

New shoes will also take time to bed in.  I always used the parking brake even though being an auto, the Park pawl could do the job.  I never trusted it not to break!!  Well it is a BMW innit.. :o

Tbh the discs have had it! So going to change the lot.

Just ordered Pagid Discs, Pads and shoes for £100 delivered by the wkend from carpartsforless, Eurocarparts were £116 even with a 30% discount (HOT30)

Had the discs and pads off at the weekend so shouldn't take long to do again

I'm guessing changing the shoes  is pretty easy too?
