BMW only offering to pay for half the price of the wheel Shorey they should pay for the whole price, Did they had this trouble with a 19 inch when BBC watchdog made them payout, The crack will was found when in for a service at snows BMW Portsmouth and now like I said they are only offering to pay for half, But they are going to sort out the corrosion around the reversing camera for me like in my last post :-[

BMW will avoid paying out unless it can be proved to be a manufacturing fault.  If they can claim that it's been curbed, or driven through a pothole, or over a bad road surface then they'll use that as a 'get out of jail' card.

You would have to get them to prove the wheel was faulty, and that could cost more than you would get back.  At least they're offering something, even if less than we would most likely all feel was warranted.

I would take the offer. With the roads as they are these days I have a steady stream of alloy wheels passing through our workshop for repair. Ive welded in excess of 50 over the last year or so, every one with an identical crack about 1 to 1.5 inches on the inner rim due to pot holes. Merc, BMW, Ford cheap old off the shelf Halfods you name it.

It's hardly surprising with the fashion for low profile tyres and big wheels, not to mention Runflats. We all agree that low profile tyres are a crap ride, they are open to damage by potholes on our crap roads.
But unfortunately they look miles better than standard, so we put up with them. As mentioned all makes of cars are suffering with rim failures due to their being not much tyre to cushion the constant pounding of the rims.
I had to change a full set of rims on my Previous E60 due to low profile runflat tyres buckling the rims. >:(
