Enabling vr using scanner

Post by ITBarbie » Mon Nov 22, 2010 11:36 pm

Hi

Can't help on that one as I'm not conversant with your scanner/tool but I did mine with a Resler and Navcoder software. It reads the module before you then select a check box to enable it. Then voilà!!! You press button on steering wheel, wait for the beep and speak. Obviously it depends on which module you have on the car TCU/SES but that's another story though so won't go there just yet.

The VR is built into the bluetooth module and most can be activated (ones that have MIT SES stamped on the side already have it) i did loads of research on this on the old forum way back and eventually did mine with a resler and navcoder.
I remember someone saying that all BT modules could have vr activated but Jeegnesh (a member who pops up every now and then...usually when there's free food involved :poke: ) has an 05 plate (i think) with bmw assistance and iirc this means he has a 'telematics' module which is different to the bluetooth one.
Also Penny has tried different makes/years of cars with mixed results :headbang: The 05 55 plate was defo suspect from what i can remember.

I have had a look at my Bluetooth module and it has MIT SES written on the label. Can this device be vr enabled??

Does anyone know which menu I go into with the scanner tool BMW 1.4

Thanks for all your help btw it's an 05 3.0d sport and it's back after my bolder problem!

Enabling vr using scanner

Hi

Yes you should be able to enable voice rec with your module. I did it on mine with a Resler and Navcoder software but not sure about your scanner functionality.

Glad your back on the road matey
As for the bt module do you have bmw assist?
Unfortunatly all the info i posted on the old forum was lost but from what i learned when doing mine way back i'm sure that or at least i was informed that if the bt module had mit ses on the side then it had vr enabled.
Mine didn't hence me going down the resler/navcoder route due to a new module costing around the £400 -£500 mark :o
I ask about the bmw assist as if the car has that the modules are different and vr cannot be coded.I think that you would need a seperate vr module.
