Bit of a laugh ... (windscreen replacment).

I had my windscreen replaced by Vines for which Admiral was going to pay. All good so far and all done now. Paid the dealer the £75 excess.

Now the good bit - I received the cheque from Admiral for the full amount (guess they assumed I paid for it).

Now the best bit - I sent a complaint to the service manager last week about damage done during an Insp I for my M, and he said he never received my emails (but did call me back when I filled in the BMW GB customer service survey where I stated the issues and my dissatisfaction with the dealer about lack of communication etc).

I just emailed him to say that I had the cheque from Admiral and if he wants the money, to contact me. Now, if he does not receive my emails supposedly, I guess I will never get that call. And if he does call me, that is rather interesting as well :)

Worst case  - I am £700 better off. Did not feel comfortable leaving it and see how good credit control was though at Vines ...

Amazing, and I suppose at that rate you could have a cracked windscreen every week if they are going to keep paying you  :))

How did you go about sorting windscreen with insurance company?

I have a big chip in mine (also with admiral) and I need to get round to sorting it.

Could be worse.....HRH wants to look at a Yeti to replace the Mini later this year.....  still I suppose it's a cheap Audi.

And I like my X6 - man pink an all :P

I have the HUD. thought it might be a real gimmick until I started using it, it's bloody awesome.

Apparently you need BMW to fit a BMW windscreen as it has a special layer which allows the reflection of the HUD, hence my question...  :)

It is a special screen with a thicker section at the bottom to make sure the HUD reflection from each glass layer coincides.  Whether anyone other than BMW does them I don't know, but it does need calibrating afterwards.
