E70 X40D now in the collection...

My 1st post here on xdrivers so go easy on me...

My wife decided we needed to switch the family estate car (and her everyday wheels) for an SUV so after talking her out of a Q5 she fell the the charms of the E70 M-Sport.....

Just after this process a good friend of ours offered us his 2010 X40D M-Sport finished in Alpine white and furnished with most of the desirable options so we struck a deal and here we are!

Collected the car just 3 weeks ago with 24k on the clock. Drives lovely and performance is quite amazing for a vehichle of its type and size.

As it only has 3 months of warranty left and with a family driving holiday to france coming up I went for a long drive and looked over the car coming up with a list of work for the local dealers to get their teeth into whilst BMW would still be paying!

So it went into Bluebell BMW in Crewe two weeks ago (much to the wifes annoyance) and its still there now and will be for some time..... Apparantly BMW UK are suffering with a parts supply issue and it may be some time before its resolved so we now have to plan for time without the X5.

Credit to Bluebell as after some moaning they have agreed to give us a 2013 5-series Touring M-Sport to use for our upcoming holiday and until the X5 is finished.

Work being carried out includes:
New Small Turbo (Noisy between 2,200 & 2,400RPM)
Rear window seals (at top of windows)
Rear wheel arches to be painted due to stonechips and protective strips installed
Sills to be painted due to stonechips
Front brake discs & pads (warped / vibration)
Fuel filler cap tether cable split
Both X-Drive badges on doors corroded
Drivers sun-visor marterial wrinkled
Drivers side roof bar being replaced (shadow line finish pitted)
Wheel centre caps all corroded
All four 20" alloy wheels corroding around centre caps
Sat Nav doesn't allow full postcode entry

I'm sure once we get it back it will be fantastic....

Welcome aboard......

The stone chipping issue is well known and BMW should be applying a plastic film to stop that.  Several folks here have had the same problem.  The wheels are another 'known' problem.  Good idea to get it all sorted before the warranty runs out - I'll be doing the same with mine shortly and then buying an extended warranty.

Have fun in France.  You could always nip over to Germany and collect the parts.......and whilst you're there collect my new bonnet catch box and driver's door seal, both of which are also on back order.. :)

Welcome.

What 5 have they lent you?

Much more interested in your other cars in the list than the boring X5!

I don't know anything about them but I'm assuming he means the Abarth bit is a replica not the whole car

Slighty confused...

My 1M is very much the real deal but the 1967 Fiat 500 has lots of 595 Abarth parts & decals fitted to give it the Abarth look...

Ignore AW8, he gets confused very easily

I think it is because he hangs around with some strange people

Including you of course  :P

Your stable resembles mine with the E70 40D, my real Abarth 500c, my M (Z4M) but I keep a Polo as a runabout as well as a classic MKI Golf Clipper.
