Always close your bonnet properly......

3 weeks of ownership, 1 flat battery and now this....... I am absolutely gutted, the worst thing is it's all my own fault..
I left the car in the garage with the bonnet latched just in case the battery went flat overnight - due to a previous issue... Unfortunately i forgot to close it properly before driving off.. There was no warning from the car that the bonnet was open and this is the result after reaching 35mph...
I need the following parts:-
Windscreen
Bonnet
2 x Gas struts
Luckily there is not other visible damage. Not sure about the hinges... They look ok, maybe a little stretched..

That must be upsetting mate, feel for you, guess you'll never do that again. Try ebay / salvage for a bonnet in the same color you might get lucky.

Ouch! Sorry to see that happen.
Can you claim for the windscreen off your insurance??

I'd definitely get a bonnet from a salvage and claim for the windscreen - it doesn't affect your no claims.

Sorry to hear of your troubles ....that's just one of them things that happens when you could really do without it
like leaving a spanner under the bonnet before closinf the ba@;ard
Could have been worse mind if that bugger flew up at higher speeds say on the motorway at least no one was hurt apart from your wallet of course

I will claim for the windscreen on the insurance, its just a matter of finding a decent bonnet. I was lucky there was no contact with my roof, however the sunroof was partially open after the impact. It closed ok from the button, but i havent tried it properly yet.
As mentioned above at least it was on a small road and no one was hurt. My 12 year old son was a bit stunned by the whole experience (the incident and my over the top Basil Fawlty reaction outside of he car).
It wont happen again..... Well i hope not anyway...

I thought that the function of the "first" catch was that it would still be locked until you release it completely?

I was in Jeegnesh's car and we travelled at quite a fast pace on the motorway with the 'first' catch only - luck y it didn't happen to us!
Will keep an eye out for a bonnet though...
When you get the screen replaced, make sure they attach the mirror and sensor housing correctly without ANY bubbles. Otherwise you may get wipers or auto lights play up.

That is a nightmare to happen really scary happened to me years ago when I was working on my sisters punto damage was not that bad though at least you don’t have to pay for a new screen though which would have been bundles. All the best
