Hi ,

I have a webasto heater fitted to the X5 ,i do not have a remote with it .When the car is swiched of the heater seems to cut in ,i can hear the pump running and there is the exhaust fumes .

I also heard that when your car gets below a certian temp the heater cuts in ,is this true.Or is the only way to control it is by switching it on with a remote unit .

I know the fans can be programmed to come on and warm the cabin up on a cold day ,does this also bring on the Webasto heater ?

thanks

Hi,
Quite a lot if info on Webasto if you do a search but basically on most cars that have it the heater only comes on when you start the car when cold to speed up the time taken before the heater works. Some have it so you can set the timer via the OBD & this fires up the heater at pre-set times, once the engine water is warm it turns on the interior fans to warm the car before you set off. It will say 'auxilary heat' as well as 'Auxilary vent' on the screen if your's has this option.
All auxilary vent does is turn on the fans ( to cool the car in summer before you get in ) this will not provide heat.
The other option is for it to be turned on by a remote control, BMW did this as an option ( not cheap) or as many on here ( myself included) you can fit a remote replay kit for about £ 40 that will do the same.
Hope this helps.
Phil.
