Oil Service cost

I just booked my E70 40d in to the local BMW dealer and the cost is £345.58. Does anyone know what this service entails above and beyond changing the oil and a quick wash/hoover?

Has anyone paid less from a main dealer?

The Oil is about half of that cost on it's own, and they do a 90-minute safety check as well as logging into the on board systems to look for any error codes.

I get mine free for the first few years as part of a Service Pack I got with the car.

Jeez that sure is steep! Call around a few dealers and get quotes. Sytner are usually very good at price matching any cheaper quotes and I even got them to price match an Independent on my 650i once ;)

Luckily I have a service pack on mine until the end of 2015.

That's expensive! Glad I got a free 5-year service package with mine when I got it 2 years ago

Ask what they are changing.  IIRC the pollen filter inc. fitting (5 mins work) is probably about £140 of that!  Ask them for a quote without that- you will be surprised!

Also shop around- some dealers do better prices than others.  Also worth ringing round a few out of town dealers- and then if they are cheaper, asking the local dealer to see if they will match the price.  If not and the difference is considerable, maybe worth a trip  ::)

Thanks - will ask. Not sure I need a pollen filter as permanently loaded with Claratin and Beconase :-)

How did you get on. I'm based in London and need the same service. I've had some mixed prices back so far. BMW Battersea charge £343 Inc VAT. Local German car specilaist charge £205 Inc VAT.

Do you guys think its worth sticking with BMW for this service ?? Will it make any difference to re-sale i.e BMW service history?

Last Month I paid £169 for an Oil Service at BMW Fairfield. I believe it included the pollen filter too.

I have an E53 so not sure on E70 sorry. It does say in the small print below Excludes 4.6 and 4.8 but yet I do have a 4.6 and they charged £169 so may be worth a phone call if your close to Southend.
