The idrive's only gone and failed on me!!!!!!!!!!

Got in the E92  the other morning to take the kids to school, and I noticed the main screen showing the usual BM logo.
After a minute or so, the screen went black before waiting about 20 seconds and restarting.
This process just repeats itself until you remove the key from the ignition. Not impressed!

Having no IDrive means no Nav, Bluetooth, radio or Cd.  It's a real PITA

Has anyone else had similar problems?

I have tried the battery off and manual reboot but nothing, and have read on bimmer forum etc that it may be the MPM module that has fried (common on the E60)

Before I took it into the Indi as it is still under warranty (not an AUC car) I thought I would ask you lot.

Thanks for any help

Russ there's a CCC module in there that has a fuse in the back, check that, plus I read somewhere that you can perform a reset on the nav unit (1 Series one is both eject buttons for the nav and single cd plus the volume button). You should be able to find something on the dedicated forum.

I'll keep looking.

Thanks Sanj.

When you say there is a fuse in the CCC unit, are you referring to the back of the Nav drive?

The reboot is similar with both eject's and the Power/mute for 25 secs, but that only does what the damn unit is doing by itself.

When the unit starts the boot, you can hear a very gently 'thud' from the sound system as if powering the amp, also the emergency call button lamp in the overhead flashes once and the Nav DVD spools up.

Bound to be something simple but expensive, it is after all a BMW :)
