Don't say that....I'm about to pick up the old one.
Yes it is a "grower" i'd say. I doubt we'll see too many until early next year, not sure whether M Sport one will be later...hoping I have a year before getting too envious of the new one.

Was speaking to the sales executive last week and he said they would probably be taking orders around sept/oct for next year delivery , so hopefully having just got the 40d that will be nearly a year up .
And if it grows on me (because at the mo I don't like it ) and another year later to get rid of any niggling problems with the new model , I might go for it
Mmmmmmmm maybe the new x4 O:-)

The e70 is not old yet mate, when you look at the current RR and the new one the previous model looks antique
At least the e70 still looks fresh
I think the best time to upgrade, when they bring the lci model out, they have just done that to the new 5 series
Looks good
BMW keeping on top of the game

Spoke to the dealer this week, the Msport and 40d will be available from November, he is getting back to me to this week to take the order.

Amy discount mentioned yet? They are usually set on list for new models (at least to begin with). Always worth a look (ahem, just input any old email address so they don't spam you) at Broadspeed.com to see what prices are like there. I bought my 535d through them brand spanking from a dealer in Hull BMW so know they are legit.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the way any X5 looks. I bought mine because of the way it drives, the practicality, driving position, toys, performance, interior etc.
The new one doesn't look any better or worse, just different. The improved fuel economy doesn't bother me, although it is impressive. The 30d is up from 38mpg to 45mpg! Only a drive will tell me whether it's worth replacing the E70.
The seem to make a lot of the suspension settings available on the new X5. If they improve the ride quality then I would be very interested.

The looks are one of the primary factors for me, I don't like the ride (so have gone for m sport deletion) and preferred the driving position and ride of the land rover discovery BUT it looks like it should be on a farm
RE: Discounts, the reason I didn't hold out for a new one is that I don't want to pay £65k for a £65k spec'd car, I want to pay £50k for it. I doubt there'll be meaningful discounts for a while, when there are I might be persuaded to upgrade.
