bootlid open error

Hoping someone can help me as I'm travelling on holiday in the Uk at the moment. Last night I packed the car up and put cycle rack and two bikes on the rear mounted rack. When I pressed the button to lock the car the audible beep didn't sound. I figured something wasn't shut properly but couldn't identify what. The little red light beneath the rear view mirror came indicating alarm was activated(?). I was apprehensive that I might have come out to a drained battery this morning but all seemed fine. I cant see if the boot light comes on as the car is full of luggage.

As soon as I set off I got a bootlid open error. As I'm only partway to my destination (700 miles ish - yes in the UK), there isn't a huge amount I can do til I get there. I cant physically open the boot as the weight of thee bikes on the rack prevents that (when i hit the unlock boot button it shuts again immediately due to the weight. IT seems completely shut yet it is recording a boot open error. Could the clasps that go on the edge of the tailgate be prising it open enough to record a bootlid open error but without triggering the interior light to drain the battery. tucked up in ab and b tonight fingers crossed that I don't drain the battery overnight.

Any suggestions?

I had this problem on mine. It turned out to be one of the microswitches in the locking motor and I had to replace the motor. Hopefully yours won't happen again but in my case, it did.

Mine is the same. If you dont close it firmly it will report the boot is open. I would check the bump stops for the boot lid, I believe they have been upgraded to solve this small issue.
