X5 F15: Official BMW Video, or should that be Wideo?

Just seen this official BMW video of the 3rd gen X5, and I quote from Hans or Dirk or whatever he is called, "ze boss is back".  Apparently.  I didn't know he'd left?

I don't like the front at all - looks like a right mess, just thrown together.  Those fog lights look like an afterthought and it would be much better looking without them, or with them tucked away in the lower air scoops.  I like the interior and its arse though!

Even if I could upgrade now, I'd be disappointed now.

That looks awful.  He says it's all about 'Width' & 'Stance' yet it's more narrow than the E70.

The wheelbase and track are exactly the same as the E70 according to a diagram on outpost. Also the third row seats look nearly identical to the E70.

Will be interesting to see what it is like underneath e.g brakes, suspension etc. It is billed as 'all new' so should be all new- just the wheelbase and track has got me thinking it may be a new shell on the same underbody...

I am not liking ze'arse on it really.....and ze'sideview doesnt do it for me......not sure whether its gonna be one that grows on me.

Interesting to see that the option of adaptive drive is back and its looks like some of the ventilation control has been taken out of the idrive too

With nostrils like that, it looks like it has been sniffing coke! I'm not keen on the overall view, although I like the interior. It really meeds some bigger wheels and arches.

Love the negative comments from those with an e70 worried that they are about to own the old car, always happens !

The E70 was never a looker and until recently the E53 looked better although even Raj's now looks better than an E70

I think the new one looks ok apart from the side profile but it is not a massive evolution on the e70

Still think the new RRS will be a more attractive/appealing package

Thanks for sharing the video link.

I would never try to argue that my relatively ancient E53 looks better than an E70. I am sure many will grow to like the new car over the E70 albeit for me E70 looks more the part - for now at least.

I can honestly say that if I was fortunate enough to have a non financed ,  privately owned reliable E70 outside of the silly tax bracket then I would not be looking to change to the new model anytime soon.

Of course none of us have seen or driven one - mpg may be a factor for some also.

Many own cars on finance and simply pay a fixed amount p.c.m. so I expect when offered to change to a newer car for similar monthly cost such issues as design difference may be less relevant unless owner looking to move to another brand or vehicle sector.

It is perhaps ironic that the biggest critic of the X5 on here is quite likely to be given one of earliest opportunities to sample the forthcoming model by way of being given one on extended test......... ;)

535dboy.........I look forward to you later posting pics & telling us it's crap after your dealer providing you with yet another gratuitous experience  :)

Yes he keeps telling me about it (we've just done 4 1ers with him)

Sales is very good, after sales is shit!!!

Ps I love Raj's E53

Valid point re aftersales.............Non enthusiasts arguably more concerned with quality of aftersales and whole ownership experience rather than losing sleep over nostril designs
