Car Audio Recommendation?

Hi, does anyone have a recommendation for a car audio company who can upgrade the speaker system in my X?

Have had a look at Car Vision UK which is quite local to me but they don't seem to do any speaker upgrades, only head units and DVD screens.

Any recommendation in the Midlands would be greatly received :)

Cheers

P

Have emailed them for some advice and recommendations, spent last night going through almost every thread on this site and noone seems to have done a write up on replacing their speakers or audio set up.

Speakers is a little more involved due to the fitments. As far as I am aware the only direct bolt in are made by -http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/

good quality by all accounts but pricey

Am happy to be corrected on this though......

Raj has definitely replaced his head unit , I've seen it , and he lives in Wolves too , but I don't
know about his speakers .

As Blofeld says , BSW the only company that do dedicated replacement kit

I bought some cheap speakers from an ebay shop about 2years ago. I think they were JVC and they fit directly into the stock 4 door locations. They were better than the stock ones and Most importantly had the same x ohms value

Whatever you do make sure the ohm value of your speakers does not exceed that stock speaker or you might end up with a dead Radio unit ...

PS. I could still do with a better sound that I have though ...

Just to clarify this a bit further.  The 'Impedance' value (in Ohms) should be the same as OEM as that means you have a proper impedance 'match' that is seen by the amplifier and the outputs will be correctly loaded.

If you do fit higher impedance speakers then there will be a mismatch and the output power will fall meaning you may have to turn the volume up and that can overheat the amp.  Going down in impedance can result in an amplifier overload as it does not see a high enough impedance and so too much power can flow and that will damage the power amplifier stages of the amp.

This also matters if you are only changing some of the speakers as again you can cause a mismatch at the amplifier which will cause it to overheat and fail.

As the man says - keep the impedances the same as OEM in all speaker locations - and wherever you have different crossover networks (for multi-speaker doors etc).
