First X5 - Thoughts on this one...

Hello,
We are current 320D Touring owners (55 plate, SE spec, Auto, Full Leather, 154k miles) and are looking to change that for a E70 X5 40D M Sport.
I have done lots of looking around and have decided to go with an approved used car from BMW due to the benefits it gives from the warranty. I also like the Select finance product.
The car we have found is this...
Ticket price £35991
Registered March 2011
54,442 miles
Automatic
Diesel
Exterior colour: Deep Sea Blue
Interior: Black Nevada leather
20" M Double-spoke style 333M alloy whee
Bootlid operation. powered
Ext. mirrors - folding. auto dimming
Head-up Display
Lumbar support. driver and front pass.
Media package
Panoramic glass sunroof
Seat heating. front
Sun protection glass
Towbar. detachable
Towing capacity. increased
The dealer does not seem to be willing to move on the ticket price. They have offered £3k for the 320 which I think is very low ball. I'm pushing for at least £4k.
Does all this sound reasonable or should I be looking elsewhere?
Regards,
Simpic

I think personally 3k does seem low when you think of the value difference, addmittedly its probly only worth 4.5k max (looked at a lot of e90s a couple of months back and high mile sports only doing 5kish) and they will only auction it but if it really is worth that little to them I think I'd stump the extra 3k up and either sell it private or keep as a run around!

Just done a deal on a 40d this past weekend / signed today and they didn't budge much on price , got the only one north of the border and have only 11 on the AUC BMW site .
In fact a chap was chasing the very one I bought as the salesperson had already sent a video of the x5 , and was told today he email the sat afternoon after I left for more photos of the tyre wear .

Don't always believe them! I enquired about a 3 series on the auc site 4 weeks ago which is the only white one anywhere nesr the price, the salesman said he wouldn't budge on price and I would have to purchase that day, my reply which shocked him was "oh well they can have it" I've since been hounded to the point I no longer pick up to them and my offer which was at the time 4k short of their asking price is now only 1400 away from screen price and its still there, bet he wishes hed of done a deal now especially as I would have come up to probly what screen price is now but I left it as he said it was sold! Since bought the m3 just to feel the power over summer! Would still buy it but hed have to give me what I paid for the m3!

Hello & welcome
is it the one at sopers? If it is I looked around it last week while my M3 was in for a service, it's seems about right money in comparision to others & whenever I trade a car they always seem to go in low.
I did notice the wheel lacquer in the centres near the bmw emblem & I hoped whoever bought it they would sort this out for them or it might just be my OCD!
Good look going forward, they are awesome beasts.

Thank you for the welcomes and comments. Yes it is that one from Sopers. And since enquiring I have been bombarded with calls from them!! They seem keen to say the least.
Thanks for the tip on the wheels. I'm miles away so it going to have to be a 99% done deal before we come up to view it.
They have reduced the APR and increased the PX by £500 which lowers the monthly by £20 by no change on the price.
Anything else I should ask for apart from the 2013 Maps DVD and a full tank of fuel?
Regards,
Simpic

Sounds like your getting a decent deal to me & from experience I can say that the service Sopers offer is excellent so I hope you receive the same, it was only the wheels I noticed, the car really caught my eye, good luck.

I would also check the rear arches for the chipping issue. My 40d was delivered in Sep 2011 and didn't come with the protective film by default. Mine is Carbon Black and needed a respray and film fitted after less than 6 months and approx 7k miles!
Hope you get a good deal, sounds like a good spec.

Thanks for the rear wheel arch tip.
Finance is all sorted so it's time do the deal.
I'll post some pics when it's on the driveway.

You mean on top of the 12 months offered? Should I push for 24?

Don't ask and you don't get and they are known to be really unreliable !

I had an additional 12 months added when I bought mine at a cost of £385 which is less than half of what you would pay if you did it when the 12 months expires.
