E53 Head unit 'AUX' installation , how ??

OK hi-fi gurus , question ;
I have found a lead on another forum that says that if you install it , you open up
the 'AUX' channel on the head unit , and can attach an iPod WITHOUT losing CD-changer or cassette modes .
However , the head unit they have displayed with 'AUX' , below ;
is not the same unit I have fitted to mine ;
Now , I have found this clip on YouTube ;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dR_LZFzS1w describing
fitment of what I believe is a similar lead , and it intimates that by installing in a 'spare' plug behind the
head unit , that one keeps use of all operations radio / cassette / cd charger / aux .
Can anyone confirm if this is the case pls ??

It allows you to play the sound through the head unit but there is no integration of iPod controls (eg the steering wheel controls will not control the iPod). No video either. OK solution as long as you accept it for what it is.

suggest
this cable with a female end which can be fitted in teh glove box or ash tray.. that way you don't have a lose cable end hanging around..
i have this. honestly though, i'd just go for an intravee.. go for a switch as well if u want to retain teh cd changer.

This lead doesn't quite look the same , plus this is £40 and the one I'm buying is £13 !! And I intend to
put the lead into the glovebox , so it's no big hassle really .
I thought about Intravee , but it's the Missus car and she's not gonna ustd all the techie stuff

Hiya ,
I found the lead on BMWEnthusiasts forum at ;
http://www.bmwenthusiasts.co.uk/forum/v ... 122&t=5121
but they have an eBay address too ;
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E39-E46-E ... 338214bbbf
Make sure you specify which year model you have as the lead I use doesn't work on earlier models .
2003 is OK though I think .
