Hi Everyone

2nd POST, many thanks for the reply on the 1st ;)

Just purchased my X5 3.0D 2002 and loving it.
I was getting a error on my dash regarding the washer tank and when filling up noticed that there was water escaping. On closer insepction on the 7.8L tank, to your right was where the leak was coming from. It seems that a hose is missing for the headlight washers as the rear and front washers are working fine.

I have looked in the engine and cannot see the hose, are these hard to replace?  I have looked at a few threads but cannot find information on this.  Can someone please direct me?

Many thanks

I assume it is similar to mine (2005)

The parts are shown in the 2 diagrams below , the headlamp washer pump is the large one on the engine side of the washer bottle. Part 11 on the second diagram

I am babysitting my 2 grandaughters at the moment . I will go and have a look where the headlamp washer pipe is routed as soon as I get the chance. Unless someone else can help in the meantime.

Hope this helps

Many thanks for your information, you are correct it is part 11, i assume the hose plugs into the bottom? do i need to go to the main dealer for a new hose or can you get an after market one?

much appreciated :)

Is there no hose there at all ? Mine looks like  black garden  hose and goes from the pump and disappears under the offside headlamp to the washer jets - it may be a bumper off job to get to that end .

I had a leak at the pump end on mine a couple of years ago and seem to remember it plugging into the pump and then a locking circlip holding it in place. I don't know about the other end but it looks like push on with a jubilee clip from the diagram.

It may be possible to cobble something together but I would think that the dealer is the easiest option.  :(

Hi

Sorry for late reply, finally sorted, the washer pump itself was broken. The end where the hoses was attached to was found in the hose itself which was finally located n the engine bay by my mechanic.

Purchased a new one and fitted.  Happy days.

Also got all the castor bushes replaced back and front as they were all worn.

many thanks for diagram.  :)
