Webasto unit runs for 30 sec on unlock query???

Hi all.
New to the forum so be gentile.  :blink:
Got a 2006 X5 E53 last week and am loving it, but for 1 thing.
Been reading alot of posts regarding the webasto but cant see anybody else having the same issue.
When i unlock the car no matter what temp it is i can hear the unit fan starting which lasts for about 30 seconds then cuts off. is this normal?  :'(
Also noticed it does it when i open the doors if left unlocked for a while!?

Hi another Newbie here - 2wk old (to me) 55 plate 3.0d Sport; I have the same problem/issue... I've read on here that it's most likely a PCB issue in the Webasto. The PCB is BMW specific and generally non-replaceable. There's a huge amount of info on diagnosing faults with the unit on this forum, but I have yet to find a completely definitive answer. I guess I'll be looking to resolve this before next winter... Sorry; not really much help to you I know, but at least your not alone! I'll watch this thread in anticipation of a solution.

I just ordered a BMW 1.4.0 scanner as read this can turn on the option to turn the Webasto parking heater option on, as well as a few other options. Maybe this will diagnose any issues with the unit as well. Hoping its nothing serious, just a reset maybe.
