LED Sidelights

I was going to tempt fate and try and swap the sidelights to some newer 'whiter' LED bulbs so they match the zenon headlights better.

I was looking at these as they say they will be 'error free':

But I have checked on BMW OEM and it says the sidelight bulb is part number 63217160795 and on Google images it looks like this:

Now, to me the connections look 'off set' ?

Has anyone changed these bulbs, and are the sidelight bulb connections off set ??

Do the Xenon headlights in the E53 use a different type of side light bulb to the non Xenon headlights as mine that I changed a few days ago were 501 type like these:

dpbayly, I dont know to be honest, looked at the ones you had and I cannot imagine how they fitted into a round socket as they look to have an end like a USB connection, but if they work for you then they obviously did fit.

Hope they look good  :)

I see,the Xenon headlights must definitely run a different side light bulb fitment in that case.

They do look good 100% improvement over the yellow look

Wow, there are loads to choose from  :)

I really need to pull my sidelights out of my car and have a look as I am really stumped how these fit ?
My bulbs (as far as replacement bulbs on the internet have shown me - hence I should really look in person) are an 'offset pin - round base' fitment that you slot in and twist to secure, yet these look like USB stick fitments, how do they work ????

Do you just 'ram' them in ?

Once the holder is out (push and twist) pull out the old bulb and push the new straight in, about 2min job.

As I was getting more and more confused, I finally got off my behind and went and actually looked at the bulbs in my car, guess what, everyone was right, they are little USB like connection that just slip in  :-[

I am useless with DIY, my mind works it out but my hands ignore me, so in my defence I was going off the BMW OEM numbers site that showed this:
Image

with the bulb being number 4, which is listed as
04 Longlife bulb 12V 6W HALOGEN 2  10/2003 63217160795 $10.92

and when I googled 63217160795 it gave me
Image

Thats my excuse and I am sticking to it

Now to get some bulbs  ;)
