Just came across these photos. I'm not a fan of the trend to having the screen coming out the top of the dash. Looks a bit cheap to me

My old X3 had a satnav screen that twisted round to open when the car was started. It was quite problematic and visited the dealers several times in the 9 months I had it for that reason. In the end they replaced the full nav system, screen etc all under warranty.

I also would worry these new motorised screens will do the same given time.

Which is why I have a spare for my M, which also has the popup screen.

Bought it new in BMW Germany for £110 - better than the UK price of around £1500 ...

I thought that the current 1,3 & 6 screens were all fixed. They do sit above the dash but don't fold down. :blink:

I know the current 1 is fixed but previously was a flip over.

Correct - the new X5 won't have a motorised screen that pops up. They were too unreliable.

Even in those pics you can see it's not motorised - its fixed like current gens.

Regarding dash top screens, not a fan the intergrated ones look much better IMO not that that's worth much  ::)
