Evening all,

Took the advice of a lot of the members here and bought myself a 1.4.0 scanner and after playing around with it tonight i have a question i hope someone may be able to help me with.

1, Can scanner code the folding mirrors to fold when locking the car?

Any help with this is welcome thanks

Craig

yes - if I remember correctly it is in the ZKE menu (double click ZKE to get there) - you then have various options to tick one of which is mirror foding on comfort closing (or similar wording.

I haven't done it myself as I have the mirror microswitch issue which will hopefully get sorted when we have slightly warmer weather but I'm 99.9 percent sure you can do what you're asking

I tried that when I got my scanner, no joy.  Pretty sure I've read that you need Intravee to do this.

Yeh you need an Intravee. I've tried with the 1.40 and although the box is there to tick it does'nt do anything

Thanks. Have just tried to tick the box in 1.4.0 and guess what - nothing happened haha. What is this intravee yous are talking about? Is it another scanner type application?

Thanks again

Craig

There is plenty of info on the forum if you do a search in the E53 section. Also have a look here http://www.toysinyourcar.com/acatalog/BMW.html
It's on my list of things I'd like to do but is behind the long list of things the boss has put on my need to do list  ::)

How can a device that allows you to connect an ipod to a car going to allow me to fold my mirrors in when i lock it? Are you lot extracting the urine here or am i missing something.

P.S. I don't and probably won't ever own an apple product ever again.

Cheers

Yes.  ;D

Not really - the Intravee has the ability to tap into the iBus (X5 computer brain) when it's connected to the CD Changer connections to fool the car into thinking the changer is still there, when in actual fact the iPod is - so a nice integrated display for you, including the MFSW.

But they took that further and started playing with some of the iBus messages. Lock the doors, open the doors, when in the ignition barrel or in Park, fold mirros, show PDC sensors, put the Halo/AE on, etc. All through trial and error and some very clever people working out the iBus hexadecimal code.

Simples.  :)

Was that pig that just flew over!

Right here goes then, what do i need to buy to make this happen? Just the intravee unit? Or do i need to buy the long wire or short wire. I don't have the alpine cd player, just the cheapo bmw one. Any help offered will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

To be honest, no matter how much you hate apple products, it's worth buying a cheap 2nd hand ipod and an intravee rather than messing around with CDs. Look for one with a cracked or U/S screen on Ebay for a bargain price & stick it in the boot.

You will need the Intravee from TIYC, that will come with nothing. You then need the KCA-420i with BOTH cables (I say that because TIYC will sell you one for twice the price of what they're going for eBay) but they are discontinued so make sure you get both cables.

Then an iPod - the iPod Video is good (nothing too new, otherwise it won't charge)!

Thanks Sanj, just had a look on the bay and found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alpine-KCA-42 ... 2a2bec420d on ebay (wasn't sure how to do the link thing) would this be okay as it says it has two wires but not sure if is the "two" i need.

Cheers
