New Car
New Car
My x5 40d will be three years old in November, I have been very pleased with it, however a new car is required, the new x5 is due late 2013 or may be 2014, if the new x5 is due after November I woul have to, tax mot and insure mine but only for a few months - not what I want to do.
My question is, what would you do? I have looked at the Audi SQ5' but would I always feel it was 2nd best?

Re: New Car
I'm not sure about the SQ5, verdict out on that one at the minute but it is a stonking engine so that is a is point
New RRS or how about a cayenne? I think there is a baby Porsche due soon too.
Do you really want/need an SUV though?

Re: New Car
You'll be lucky to get a ha'penny off an RRS so not worth it IMO until this time next year (if at all - it's hideous!) cayenne gets my vote.

Re: New Car
Thanks for this, my days of a low sports car are over, I have problems getting out of my 320d, so yes I need an SUV.
I always think of the Cayenne as a dressed up VW, I may be wrong but how do others see it?
The RR sport is high tax and not so good on fuel so I had dismissed this - again I may be wrong.
I doubt there would be any discount off the new x5, but the one thing I have learned in life 'never look at what's parked on your drive and wished you had paid a little more for what you want'

Re: New Car
There are similarities between the two cars yes by Porsche will put there own sporty stamp on it and VW the comfort one. There are some good deals on the toureg at the minute too I believe but that is quite an old car now as is the Q7
I would think new RRS will be in a different tax bracket now the engines are more efficient and it is loosing a chunk of weight.

So, the question which naturally follows from that is, what is it that you really want?

I'm so happy that my wife has a similar moto, therefore meaning I get away with an awful lot of purchases!

im thinking stop been so tight, if your looking at 50k+ for the car the tax difference is only £200 per year for a car you want, i mean you will be losing nearly that per week on depriciation anyway!

I'm not being tight, I just don't see why I should pay more tax and use more fuel for less performance.

well there is that, hence why ive never been a massive rrs fan, the thaught of a £490 tax disc is horrible knowing that the money will never see a road but in the grand scale the £200 per year difference is nothing really, i mean what does £200 get now? a night out

Your nights out are clearly more fun than mine.
Back on topic, £500 for tax is just horrible, however one looks at it.

Re: New Car
I would have a good look at the Porsche personally even if you do end up discounting it.
Re RFL, I agree that and additional £200pa shouldn't stand between you and the car you really want, but on the other hand it would still smart every time you had to pay it too.
It is a matter of principle that giving the government any more than you need too hurts

Re: New Car
I would buy an E70 . I've seen pictures of the " New " X5and dont like it. Plus as there is a new one coming out, you can get a great big fat discount on a current X5.
Thats what I have done .
Audi= yuk. Pig ugly.
Just my opinion.
