BMW dealer trying to get me back (M6 vert content)

The best aspect of my BMW ownership was the salesman who really was a top chap and would go out of his way to help you and even dealt with my aftercare - I barely spoke to the aftercare department because they were so shit !

Because of this, anybody that is interested in a BMW I put his way. One of my partners at work wanted to change his car, his wife's, his daughters and his brother in laws so off they trotted see my chap.

They arrived at 11, left at 6 having bought 4 cars !

Anyway he phoned me early yesterday morning and told me to come up with my driving licence and there sat for me was a new M6 vert for the day, all £102k of it

Some of you will remember that I had an M5 for a week when they were first launched http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/https://xdr ... ic.php?t=1 and I wasn't that keen on it but then I put part of that down to the weather so I went in to this with an open mind.

Well...................I still don't like it ! The sound is dull, bordering on horrible, and there are still major issues with the traction, even on a warm dry day. I was bombing around by PVRs house and a few occasions I may have ended up in his vast estate never to be seen again !

For a car to drive to Monaco in it is probably one of the best but to have fun in it is not. I have to say that I prefer the old M6 to this one, even with its dodgey gearbox. I think my main gripe is the power delivery of the turbo and that is why I much prefer NA or s/charged cars.

Anyway couple of pics for you and it is safe to say I would never buy one and would much rather an R8 which I have been lucky enough to drive extensively on loan in the past.

Just for comparison

Old M6 which I had for a week

And the R8

Or maybe the 991 911 we had when the Boxster was delayed

Although these are probably affordable now at that sort of money (this one was brand new at the time)

Nice to be offered a drive in the new M6 or all of them

I like the R8 or Ferrari the best, but not buying them and would be worried about parking them.

For some reason I only get offers to have ago in a fiat 500 or new civic, or a brochure on the hybrid BMW. Thisis probably down to the fact I have never bought a new car just secondhand ones.  :))

However, my brother in law lets me drive try out his new toys, but turned down a go driving the Bentley continental in winter time as its so wide, but drove the V10 M5 liked that and his BMW x6, but not yet driven his Ferrari although been a passenger  :)

The old V10 sounds a thousand times better than this new blown V8

That is car heaven to me 535dboy  8) I bet it's great to experience such a wide range of high end cars like that, I adore the colour combo on that new M6 but I would have a coupe.

I agree I like N/A engines too but they seem to be fading away fast, we better enjoy while we can!

Thanks for sharing piccies  :)

I agree I think you and I have the last of the proper motors

It is well known that the M3 is become a six turbo but it also looks like the next RS4 will be a V6 turbo if the rumours about the next RS5 are correct

I'm sure he knows that when BMW start making a decent car again I'll be tempted to come back.

After 4 and a bit years of a sensible car In the X5, I'm happy having some fun again

Maybe next time I'll slow down and be sensible again

nice pictures, although the dealer should know better that to give you a car that is anything but outstanding!

Never had the chance to drive any of those cars, and as I will never buy any of them, highly unlikely I ever will.  If I had that sort of dosh, Aston Martin for me.  Regardless of whether or not its the best of it's class.

he knows how I felt about the M5 it's just called being a good salesman. The fact I don't like them doesn't mean my friends don't and I've recommended him many times

I agree on the Aston for looks, presence and feel good factor. I tried several nearly new V8V volantes before settling on Porsche and it just didn't do it for me to drive.

I buy to drive not to be seen in

So why did you not pop in? I have been in the UK for 4 days or so before going off again so a nice ride would have been good :)
