Radio not working

Post by malc1950 » Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:20 pm

I had to jump start the x today and then noticed that the Bluetooth wasn't paired up and that the obc display had all moved around ie what was at the bottom was now at the top of the display, I paired up the phone no problem but then noticed the radio wasn't working  checked the fuse ok ,
the sat nav is working fine but no sound do you think I need to do a reset ie battery lead off ?

I had a strange one not long after buying my X5 - radio stopped working along with all of screen functions and dashboard guages (no speedo, fuel guage etc.) with abs lights etc. on.

Battery cable off and back on after 30 mins and all sorted - no issue since!?

I disconnected my battery at the weekend, when i reconnected it there was no sound at all from the radio, tape or CD but the screen functions still work (i have the wide screen sat nav unit). Is my best plan of action to disconect the battery again or is it likely that i have disturbed some thing when i was removing the spare wheel and compressor?

Try it again.
VITALLY important that the ignition is turned OFF prior to battery re-connection.

And put the lead on in one smooth quick movement as the electrical noise from iffy contact is what sends the systems heywire..
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...

But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

Check the cable connections in the boot - the screen may be on and getting power - it is entirely separate to the radio unit though, which is near the battery in the - reseat the connections in the boot. Alternatively possibly check fuses?

Cheers, I checked the fuses the other day and they were O.K.. I'll have a look at the connectors tonight, is it mounted next to the jack?

Its in the area behind the battery under the spare wheel in my car.

meaning battery was low?

might be saying the obvious - but i hope your battery is now good? weak batteries cause havoc with these electronics.
