I know this might be a daft question, but is the truck driveable with the instrument panel removed? I need the pixels sorting and dont want it immobilised  half way down my drive!!. Cheers

Not sure, but I wouldn't do it. Did read somewhere that it was advised NOT to switch the ignition on with no cluster.

Certainly on the E71 the answer is 'no'.  The instrument cluster holds more than just the clocks and is part of the on board electronics so you could bugger something up.  It's also why they cost a fortune to replace!  :'(

Guess I had better not chance it, I think it will only be a couple of days to get the work done anyway. As long as I can get my motorbike past the truck I will be OK. Cheers guys

i had same problem as you and car drove ok with dash removed. i think the indicators flashed quicker tho for some reason. but other than that it drove fine.

Not wishing to spoil the party but it is illegal to drive if you don't have an operating speedo so if you've taken out the dash and cannot actually see the speedo then in theory you can get nicked for it

This is true.

But I can confirm that the car does work as I had mine out on the prev X for a pixel repair and drove to the train station to get to work - luckily its only about a mile away

Can always use a portable nav with mph readout. Might just get you off the hook.
