Hi guys.

i am having a problem with my x5. the radio or cd are not working or giving any sound. i have tried to reset it by removing fue fuses and i have also unplugged the bm54 in the battery compartment.

when i select the radio or cd the screen is blank. all i get is the orange light by the volume knob. ii do however get sound from the sat nav.

any ideas what the problem is likely to be?

possibly an issue with the screen ribbon cable.....i would have at first though issue was with BM54 unit, but seems odd as you get the sound from the Sat Nav

thats what is confusing me. i get no sound and a blank screen when i select radio or cd but sat nav anf obc all work fine

hmmm, would a diagnostic show anything on these i wonder. More than welcome to use DIS/INPA that i have.

already had it on carsoft and inpa for other now resolved issues and it only showed up the faults i was expecting nothing todo with anything electrical

There was another thread on here about flickering/blank LCD, not sure of it is related...
I read it today actually.

if your satnav and obc are  working fine its not a screen issue.

logically, it sounds like a bm54 issue although screen going blank is not something i've heard before re the bm54..
