BMW Servicing prices
just curious at to what other folk's local BMW dealer charges for servicing? Do you think the cost is well over priced for what they do and the parts used? am curious as to what Cooper (Sunderland) and LLoyds (Newcastle) are in comparision, will phone tomorrow and let you know
Re: BMW Servicing prices
Is it an oil service or am inspection service that is due. On an oil service they only change the oil and oil filter, and if you look AT&T the service book the cabin pollen filters. Mines a 55 plate 3.0d, so I just bought the oil and oil filter, and had the local garage change them and stamp the book, he also did a boil test on the brake fluid, I changed the cabin filter and air filter , recently myself.
I think when a car gets to a certain age a full dealer history doesn't make any difference to the resale value.
Especially with an oil service as I keep the receipts for the oil and filter to show that the correct grade of oil was used. I also change the oil and filter every twelve months myself and keep receipts, so its over serviced if anything.

Re: BMW Servicing prices
These cars are potentially bottomless pits used . I have kept mine up until now & with view to this being a potential aid to selling if/when I do so in the future.
Due to oil prices my usually competitive indy actually quoted more than the main dealer who uses the 6 plus discount servicing scheme. Indy generally gets work required that I cant or want do......in between or on back of dealer inspections.
I did the maths and saving by me doing oil service (if buying oil and filters myself) was negligible........£30 or maybe a little more.........To be fair I was misquoted for 6 cylinders & they stood buy it.
I re-evaluate each time depending on quotes, polite haggling & whats involved.

Re: BMW Servicing prices
I plan to get my 3.0i (04) done very soon and have the inspection II carried out, hoping they will identify the cause of several issues I am having.

Re: BMW Servicing prices
My local dealer is very keen to compete on servicing against indy's. They even have a big poster on the side of their building advertising up to 50% of labour. As AW8 states using the 6+ scheme also brings the cost down. All e53 should now fall into this offer (6+). Get a quote from an indy inc. the use of BMW genuine parts and use that to bash a main dealer and see what happens, worth a go IMO.

Re: BMW Servicing prices
Very topical for me lads, I was into my local BMW dealer today to ask about servicing costs. I have an 02 3.0D Sport X5. Shes done just over 103k, the oil service light is on, along with the brake fluid change symbol thingie.
So I asked the nice man in the service reception to give me a price for what the car needs, he duly plugs the key in and after a few mins produces a sheet of paper that contained a price.
£325! the price of the oil alone was quoted at £125.79 and that's without VAT.
Now my car has a FSH so far(mostly BMW but last few have been indys) and id quite like to keep a decent history for the car, but really - £325 to change the oil??
The cost of just the brake fluid change was £57.50 plus the VAT, so that's about £70. So £325 minus £70 makes £255, that's a lot more than the "from £159" service blurb they spout.
I know she needs rear subframe bushes, but I darnt ask for a price for those from them!
Anyway, that's my findings on this subject, anyone know of a decent indy garage up here in Aberdeenshire??? Or am I being unfair in my horror at the main dealer price??

Re: BMW Servicing prices
Did you quote the £159 price to the dealer? Did you ask for a discount on the parts and labour, try and get an Indy quote then get in price matched. The effort you put in the more likely you are to get a deal.

Re: BMW Servicing prices
The guy said the parts and labour was at the discounted rate, but no I didn't quote him the £159 thing, prob should've, but having the wife and screaming young ones in the car with me was making my time in there quite quick! hahaha! ::)
