Finally found my perfect X5
Finally found my perfect X5
After months of looking today I've put a deposit on an X5 40d It's a BMW AUC, finally found a good one after seeing loads of tat from other main dealers, 2010 (60 plate) with only 11900 miles on the clock. Two and a half years service pack, four brand new tyres being fitted and a reasonable discount on the advertised price.
Having driven 3 hours to go and look at it I was well chuffed with the condition this time, it's pretty much a brand new car with plenty of extras.
Thanks for all the advice on the forum, I started with a much smaller budget and looking at 4.8's and ended up with this 40d and an empty bank account I'm sure I'll ask loads more questions before and after I get it !!
Quick pic below as I know you all like pics .....

Cheers, yeah I think the long wait for the right one was worth it.
The best bit was once all the money was agreed I went up to take a look and make the final decision, on arrival I was told they were putting two new tyres on and later when he checked they said that all four would be changed To be honest the tyres weren't that bad but it's a bonus when you get them all replaced for new.

Nice one Barney, proof that taking your time and being prepared to walk away from a deal pays off. Well done. The car looks great and the colour in the sunlight looks fab.
Enjoy

completely agree - space grey (?) works really well with the light interior and looks like a pan roof too. Really nice.

Re: Finally found my perfect X5
Here's the spec taken from the printout (it appears these are all options?);
Platinum Grey
Oyster Nevada leather
Maint. Pack until 09/15
Reverse assist Camera with top view
Panoramic glass sunroof
Luggage compartment seperating net
Ext. mirrors folding auto dipping
Elec. front seats + driver memory
Sun protection glass
Speed limit display
Dynamic package
Media package
20" Y spoke alloys style 214
Matt aluminium trim (around windows)
A couple of questions, is '8TH Speed limit Display' related to the sat nav, I assume it's not HUD?
Also when they demo'd the panoramic roof he said both sections tilt but only the large front panel one slides back, I seemed to remember the whole lot including the rear section slid back to leave the whole roof open?
It has a single disc CD but has a built in hard drive with USB sockets in armrest and glove box, what sort of size HDD do they have, I think the sales guy said 12GB?
It has the 8 speed box, he did say that some 40d's had 6 speed?
The colour is darker than space grey but looks a little more dark in that pic than it actually is

Re: Finally found my perfect X5
Pan roof will do first section for comfort but can go back further but will result in buffeting.

Thanks, so the whole lot, both sections go back if you wanted to with the help of ear plugs ?

Re: Finally found my perfect X5
Yes - the first panel is the comfortable setting at any speed. if you have the whole thing back (both panels) it gets way too noisy and the inside pressure goes a bit weird above 30mph - we only use the full pan roof for watching fireworks and @ slow speeds!
My X5 has an audible chime above certain speeds (which you set yourself) - I wonder if that's what is meant by speed limit display. nothing to get excited about if it is (although it is useful) and not connected to satnav.
Mine has a hard drive - 8-12GB sounds right, but frankly we use an old ipod instead connected to one of the USB sockets in the armrest.....can't be bothered loading up the car with CDs and spending hours downloading them to the car when the songs are already available on the ipod.
When do you collect it?
