Finally got one!!

Post by glmec » Sun Mar 31, 2013 2:31 am

Evening All,

After being tied to my lease car for what seems like a million years I've now come back to X5 ownership. Before taking the plunge I wanted to do some more research to add to the experience of my previous X5(a 2003 3ltr sport). This brought me to Xdrivers, I registered and immediately spotted Nats ad, fate, kismet call it what you want but I'm probably just down right spawny!!. A few phone calls later and I'm on my way to see and buy the motor (2004 sterling grey 4.8is). Nat is an absolute gent, it's so good to go and view a car described as perfect and not to be dissappointed as can often be the case.

On the way back up North when the roads permitted "I tested some of the cars capabillities" and it just confirmed why i'd missed it so much- but this car really is something else with the extra power and I can't stop smiling all the way home.

Anyway, without finding the original ad and at the risk of forgetting some of the spec/extras here goes:-
exclusive nappa, pan roof, heated front and rear seats, rear airbags, satnav, tracker, rear view camera, 6 cd player with uprated sound sytem, folding/dimming mirrors & rear view with the compass.

Mrs loves it,kids love it and I definately love it. Heres to many happy years of ownership.

Cheers, Gav.

:hi: & Hi Gav,

Great to see not only a new member, but one who's found a fantastic example from another member.  ;)

A lovely looking X5 you have there with an outstanding spec.

Happy motoring, or should that be happy Xing?  ::)

Morning All,
Thanks for the welcome and all the nice comments, cheers. Anyway gave it a really good clean and forgot just how easy it is to flat the battery on these beasts. Spoke to Nat who gave me good advice and she jumped off no probs.
Took her for a quick spin and the fuel/rev gauge, cruise, electric mirrors, rear camera etc are all knocked out.
Removed all relevant fuses and tested them and none of them are blown!!
Feeling really annoyed at myself as im fearing the worst and i've only had it a day!!
Fired her up just to see and eveything has come back, RESULT!!!
So i'm guessing something must have "spiked" enough to have registered on the system whilst not been strong enough to blow any of the fuses and just by taking them out and reseating the fuses its cleared the prob.
Just thought i'd mention it in case anyone has similar probs.
Moral is dont be a tool like me and have you're radio on, doors open whilst cleaning you're car.
Cheers, Gav.
