Anyone know what this is?

I saw this strange phenomenon this morning when i was walking the dogs. The misses reckons it could actually be sunlight breaking through the dreary grey thats become the norm, but i'm just not convinced though, as shes usually wrong, and with us not having seen sunlight round these parts for quite some time, it cant be.
Has anyone else seen anything similar?

Nothing like that in Essex. I wonder if it could be locals shining lasers into the sky?

It's the light from the motherships of our Alien Overlords.

Or the sun coming through the clouds.

Either way, a rare occurrence.

It's not something I've ever come across in these parts. I've heard a few southerners talk of this thing called "summer" but I don't know what they are on about?
