My tyres have 16k on them and still look good for another 4-6k.  Is it a tracking issue?

Hi Wigsey, welcome to the forum!

My tyres have done about 6k and I imagine they'd do another 15k.
3k on any tyres suggests something's not right. As Don has suggested, perhaps a tracking issue? Could be other things as well I'd guess.

What sort of wear was on them to need replacing?

Hi and also :hi: from me too.

What mileage has your e70 done? 3.5k is crazy to knock out a set of fronts  :o is the wear on the inner or outer edges?

P.s. be sure to get your self over to the newbie section to say hi  ;)

Hello and  :hi:

Unless you live somewhere like Basingstoke or Milton Keynes, both of which have a severe roundabout habit, 3,500 miles would say there's a problem.

One other check though is to make sure whoever fitted the tyres put the right 'weight rating' tyres on the car.  If you're not sure where to find it on the sidewall it comes after the main size data 285/40 R19 as an example) and should be something like 107 or 109 followed by the speed rating.  The correct rating is on the label on the B-pillar where the pressures are shown.

Some unscrupulous suppliers knock out cheap tyres because they are underrated and wear much faster.

Other than that, it could be as suggested, a tracking issue.

If it is both fronts it would indicate a setup fault or as Richard says some incorrect tyres.

If is one tyre more than the other it could be down to driving style/technique or location - roundabouts etc.

Pretty even wear but slightly more worn on the outside edge.
