A little upgrade

Post by Raj » Sat Mar 23, 2013 5:50 pm

To help on these rather cold days we are suffering from, I searched the bay to source a nice heated steering wheel. Finally found one on German eBay and the seller kindly did me a deal including delivery.

Once arrived, I ordered the required slipring and relay to complete the addition.

So went from this (advertised in the for sale section):

This really does get nice and toastie. Superb additon and another of those options now added to my X.

No you tart!

I meant all the earfuls I was getting when I said I loved my wheel!

Never knock it til you try it! All that heats gone to your head!

Greatest mod ever!

Congratulations on the upgrade Raj.  Nice job.  On a side note, still not happy with mine!  Dealer has looked into it twice now and this time says all is fine.  However as I had one before I know what to expect.  Slow to warm up and only just noticeable when warm.  Dealership did a customer survey a few days later to ask if all was well and once I pointed out that it wasn't you could here the shock in the girls voice.  They are now looking for more information.  Would you believe that there's no temperature guide for the techs to work too!

Sorry, Raj went off a little there and stole your thread, all yours again buddy.  ;)

Welcome to the 'Toastie Wheel' club.  :)

Makes a pleasant addition and only takes a few seconds to warm up....or at least mine does.  Defo a good thing in the current weather....not that we've anything like what Don's piccies show.  Just an inch here despite is snowing all day.

@Graham - lol, like a pop tart that's just been come out the toaster....warm.

@Don - don't me them fob you off as this one warms up very quickly and gets proper toastie. No problem with the thread hijack...lol

@Chompers - keep an eye on eBay as you never know if one comes up.

@Richard - I do love it. Makes such a difference and didn't turn it off in the RRS

@Riggie - I know plenty that will buy it if you don't want it but personally even in Devon I'd be using it lol

@Peter - I can well imagine with the serious sub zero temps you get.

What is the heated steering fall under on new ones? Winter package II With the rear seat heat? I was given a brand new corsa last year when my waterpump took a piss on me and that car had the heated steering wheel and i was pretty impressed with it. As always great work Raj.
