BMW Service Depts!!!!

Booked my e70 X5 in for a service & they advise me that there's a £10.00 charge to collect the car & return it .

I live 10 miles away & bought the car from the dealership concerned, as well as a 1 Series.  80K worth of cars.....    The X5 has service pack included.

Is this charge standard now across all dealerships ?

Not yet but it is becoming more common because of the price of fuel for their own vehicle supporting the collect & return.  My local Dealer charges for a courtesy car now.....assuming you can ever get one!  We started using the collect and return but have not been charged as the car has gone back and forth under warranty.

Not a service I have used, but come on, £80k of business and they are looking a tenner!  :chair:

That's the sort of action that would see me travel further afield for the next car and tell the dealer why!  >:(

I'm positive if you tell them to stuff it, they'll back down.

Exactly!  I've sent them an email & told them what I think.  A tenner won't buy an ice cream these days.  I've had a string of cars from them over the last twenty years & they ask me for ten quid!  The service guy normally turns up in an 05 3 series coupe & leaves it on my driveway.  Won't  leave me the keys, but leaves it on my driveway.    I've already booked it into another dealer & will wait 90 mins, sup some coffee, read the paper.    I'm on a 5 yera Servicve Pack on the X5 but that shouldn;t make a difference.

That's a fecking joke  :o and right of you to have told them to stick their £10  >:D My local dealer used to have a guy in a runabout to drop local people back home. They stopped this a year or so ago. they now have a deal with a local taxi company to do the same job, cheaper by some margin, I understand. Same dealer also has a priority service desk for while you wait service/drop ins. The cafe is always full and do good business. The service dept does have a note up stating a charge for loan cars, but I have never been charged.

Loyalty means feck all in this day and age, just vote with your feet and go elsewhere for better service and maybe even the next car.

One thing that I've noticed with BMW dealers is they all have 08** phone numbers (10p a minute jobbies), as I'm searching for an X5 at the moment it's cost me over £20 in calls to these dealers over the last few months in the hope they can part me with my money !!
Criminal really, they are that desperate they have to make money on calls to them  >:(

Remember to have a look at the 'Say No to 0870' website as it may have an alternate number.  Ours still uses the 01xxx and also an 0800 number.  I don't suppose it will last though.... >:(

This is common/the norm for all vehicles advertised on the AUC site. Easy enough to get round as X5Sport states or just search the dealer name.

Cheers for the tip, I'll google the dealer next time and try and find a normal number.

I've had BMWs from my closest dealer, one from a dealer forty minutes further away and one from a dealer in England (current X6).

So although my current car came from another dealer, the closest dealer gives me a free loan car whether my car is in for service or warranty work. I also needed a new battery on my key fob, I know it's only a few quid but still they didn't charge, which both surprised and impressed me.  I can't fault the dealer.
