Looking for the facelift E53 3.0D sport in black if possible, I take it the facelift ones are 2005 onwards?

What's the standard sound system like?

The facelift E53 was available from January 2004. As for the sound system, that depends on what standard you are used too. I'm more than happy with standard BMW sound system but their are others that expect a far better sound reproduction and would advise either looking at a Pro Logic system or possible aftermarket.

E53 face-lifts will start on 53 plates. 04 should guarantee you bought a facelift (hope you know the differences and what to look for)?

Sound was in 3 options; standard, hifi speaker and lastly DSP. Getting better respectively - 6, 10 and plus sub.

Again, do a quick search and you'll get that bit right and know what to look for.

I for one would love a pic of E53 next to E53 faclift next to E70 next E70 facelift (LCI?)

Can anyone oblige? I'm a bit of numpty and can't tell the difference with the "originals" and facelifts....

Not sure if this will work - doing this from my iPhone.

The E53 facelift was really obvious. Much more imposing grill/lights on the front - took years off it. The E70 was more subtle but still effective. First one is my car.

Sorry, didn't get loads of comparable angles/views but it's a start.

Hey, I know the differences after a lot of reading thanks. Just read that you got yours re-mapped, I'm hoping to go down the route after my purchase.

I'm mainly doing town driving approx 150 miles a week I'm estimating the fuel at around £50, sound right?
