2001 4.4 70 mph to revs?

Guys was just wondering what the revs should be when my 4.4 is doing 70mph?
Mine is showing around 2400 rpm not sure if this is right, my e39 528i touring will do the about 2000 ish rpm for the same speed.
Is there a problem with my 4.4 or is it because of the difference in weight of the X5's compared to that of the E39 tourings?

I had an E39 528i a few years ago, a superb car, used to be just over 2000rpm at 80 mph. My E53 3.0d is about 2200rpm at 70 mph.

The manual may have the information to let you work out the engine speed at a particular road speed.
Also, assuming you have an auto box, flip it to manual and check which gear the box is in at the speed you are interested in - Not sure if that model/year is 5 or 6 speed box but should be in top if on the level and speed is steady.

2,400rpm sounds about the same as my 2001 4.4 at 70mph.
