Dose enybody know if putting my spare 18' wheel and tire on whilst I'm getting they 19' wheel refurbed and tyre replaced will effect the 4 wheel drive or the gearbox . As I was told when I had a Discovery that I must keep them the same and change 2 tyres at a time to keep the rolling diameter the same . Seemed a bit OTT to me .

Complete you-know-what! For long-term wheel replacement, yes. But this is temporary and afterall an OEM spare which would conform to BMW standards. The rolling radius is most likely the same or very close anywayz. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks yet again . I was thinking of getting the wheels done one at a time as I have not got a spare set . I found a guy who will do a back and front refurb for 65 pounds but he will have a wheel for a few days . Do you think this will be a problem as I want all 4 done as on a very tight budget ( like everyone at the moment ).

Be careful with this type of refurb. They're not the best results. You'll get laquar which isn't always smooth (Pewters to credit for that) and after a year or so the paint will lift or react...

Think carefully before going for this option. Consider the fact that the wheels are not gonna function any worse if you leave it to get some cash together to get the job done right.

You could always do it yourself. I did mine on a Ford Probe a few years ago, never had a problem with the paint coming off. I will be doing mine in the summer (next year) as you really need it to be warm and dry to get the best results, or a garage.
